Human Trafficking
Every year, millions of people around the world are victims of human trafficking, forced into a growing criminal industry for sex and labor. This is a global and domestic issue, and it is happening each day in urban and suburban areas. In the United States, Florida ranks third in the number of calls to the National Human Trafficking hotline.
Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health Florida
Through a national continuum of services offered through Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health, Devereux Florida provides a comprehensive treatment program for survivors of Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children (CSEC). This specialized clinical model is offered in residential, foster care and community-based settings.
As a complement to this treatment model, Devereux is working to combat this form of modern-day slavery by raising awareness and understanding. Educational opportunities are available to join the prevention movement and to support resource development for victim-centered services for survivors.
Training & Resources
Educational opportunities are provided through multiple options, which includes live and recorded sessions, on-location and in web-based format, as well as training designed for broad audience and/or for reserved groups. Many options are available, including content designed to meet specific industry requirements and to offer continuing education units (CEUs) for applicable credentialing.

CSEC 101
Training for Caregivers & Professionals Working with Children
This training session is suggested for anyone interested in learning more about the human trafficking epidemic. Topics reviewed include the common definition of human trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation of children, an explanation of how individuals are vulnerable to victimization, the effects of trauma, and what to do when human trafficking is suspected.
Approximately 30 minutes to complete.
CSEC
Specific Training for Hospitality Professionals
Aimed to increase awareness related to commercial sexual exploitation and human trafficking, as described in the CSEC 101 course, with additional content applicable for individuals or organizations operating within the hospitality sector. This training includes an introduction to human trafficking and information to assist in implementing measures to help prevent and address potential situations in business establishments.
Approximately 45 minutes to complete.
